About Me

My Background

Julie Norkus is a creative soul to the core. She is passionate about art, collecting, and re-purposing.  Her happy place is in the well-appointed workshop & studio she daily occupies that is  filled with power tools, sanders, paints, stains, brushes & supplies for any project.

After studying Art, Interior Design, and Business in College, Julie landed in the world of residential & commercial design, until starting a family in 2000. While a stay at home mom, Julie would sneak away to paint murals in friends’ nurseries and paint small canvas commissions here & there. Feeling the nudge to have a real business, Julie made the jump to painting murals and selling her children’s art at local Baby Shops in the Fox Valley area. 20 years later Julie has run the gamut from painting in many of the amazing homes in the Fox Valley area, doing one of a kind commissions, fabricating a line of custom serving trays, and several other casual living home décor items.

Her love of all things vintage inspires her easy-going style and painting of everyday objects. She keeps her paintings fresh, on trend, and not too serious.

Her art is reproduced on Tea Towels, Pillow Covers, Stretched Canvas, Loose Reprints, and various other curated home décor.

Julie currently sells her art goods online, at local shops, and at artisan markets in the West Chicago Suburbs.

Julie creates, fabricates & designs out of her studio in St. Charles, IL where she lives with her husband John, 2 daughters Paige & Lindsey, and 2 naughty dogs Reggie & Archie that are well known by her close-knit customer base.

My Medium

paint brush

I use many different new & reclaimed materials to create unique, one of a kind pieces you can give as gifts or keep for yourself for years to come.

My Inspiration

I scour flea markets, estate sales and back roads for materials that inspire me.

"Enter through the Narrow gate. For wide is the gate that leads to destruction, and many will go through it, But small is the road that leads to life, and only a few will find it." ....Matthew 7:13-14
